Thought for the Day: How Can I Give Up Struggle?
 
thought for the dayHave you been struggling in your life?  It’s probably something that you’ve gotten used to and even come to expect.  Struggling has most likely become a habit, and you didn’t even know it.  It has become your security blanket, a warm familiarity that you wrap yourself in.  And yet struggle is exactly what you don’t want to be doing, even though you’re the one doing it!
 
The thing about struggle is that it often feels like it’s coming from something external.  It feels like it’s not from you, of you, and totally caused by you.  You think it’s something that you’re not creating in your life nor have control over.   Nothing could be further from the truth!

What’s also almost always completely invisible about struggle is that it’s something that you learned way back when, as a young child when you were copying behaviors that you saw all around you from your parents, siblings, other family members, and friends.

You wanted to fit in, and whatever it was you saw, even if it felt uncomfortable, you took it on as your own.  Over time it evolved into part of the fabric of who you are today.

Struggle is everywhere you look: it’s all over the media and in everything in your environment.  It starts at home.  It’s at school.  It’s where you’ve worked.  It’s everywhere.   
 
So, it’s hardly surprising that it feels external and not from within you because it was initiated and continues to be supported by sources outside you.
 
But it can’t happen without your help.  Struggle is all about you buying into negativity.  
 
You’ve probably noticed that there’s nothing enlightening, uplifting, inspiring, and magical about struggle.  
 
Where does struggle come from within you?  It comes from:

  • Not believing in yourself.
  • Doubting your abilities.   
  • Defaulting to worrying rather than looking for solutions and getting powerfully into action on those solutions.   
  • Generally feeling badly about yourself.  

Thought for the Day: How can I give up struggle?
 
If you’re thinking about giving up struggle, what would replace it?  It’s important to know what it is you actually want so that you aren’t tempted to replace it with more struggle. 

So what would replace struggle?  How about ease?  You would have ease in your life.  Everything would be easy as opposed to hard and filled with struggle.
 
Imagine what your life would look like if it was filled with ease and struggle is a thing of the past!
 
To get into action with today’s thought for the day, take a few moments and:

  • Close your eyes, and explore every nook and cranny of what ease looks like in your life.  Think about every area of your life.
  • Then take a pen and paper or go to your computer and write out your description of your life now filled with ease.  

Really feel it.  Use all your senses.  What does it look like?  Sound like?  Feel like?  Describe it in such detail that you can almost sense what it tastes and smells like.  Write out everything you can think about your life and how it’s filled with ease.   
 
Once you have completed this process, you will have a detailed description of what you actually want in your life, rather than defaulting to what you don’t want, which is to struggle.
 
Now the key is to focus on that vision of your ideal life and bring that into being every day.   
 
If you notice that your mind wanders and the old limiting thoughts of struggle pop up, that’s okay.  Thank them for sharing, and send them on their way.  Bring yourself back to what it is you really want: your life filled with ease.
